Living Joyfully

Renoir, Luncheon Of The Boating Party, 1880

I hope this doesn’t come off as presumptuous. I am sending to my blog readers links to the lectures I have just finished for a four-part series at our church, Valley Presbyterian Church, which I call Finding Joy. I would be mortified if this comes off as self-promoting or appears to call attention to me. It’s just that, after a great deal of preparation, study, reflection, writing, and prayer, I’ve come to feel this class has sharpened my thinking on joy. I simply want to share what what I have been learning through these last weeks.

Some of you may have noticed I have not written in my blog for some time. The reason? Well, this class has swallowed up most of the creative energy I have. But I will return to the blog soon. Some of the new writing out ahead may come from this thinking for the class.

In any case, here is the memo that went out this week from the Church, including the links, should you want to listen or just dip in as you feel drawn. I am grateful to the folks at the Church who supported the class and put these videos together. And what a wonderful group of thoughtful attendees!

Good Afternoon OASIS – “Finding Joy” attendees,

Thank you for joining us for Dr. Eaton’s incredible series “Finding Joy”.  Our final class was Wednesday evening.  Please see the links to our YouTube page below…where you can find each class recording.

Should you have any questions or thoughts, I’d love to hear from you. If you want to pass these on to others, feel free. For now, I hope we all can respond to the invitation of Jesus, who says, come closer to me, and I will give you complete joy. Even in the midst of our turbulent world, I am trying to hear this invitation more every day.
